Living only 2 miles from the State Fair of Texas grounds in Dallas, I frequently find great historical collectibles from the annual event. This is an extremely rare 1947 Dallas City Councilman badge (belonging to Robert H. Lindop) direct from his estate 12 years ago. Front medal is titled “State Fair of Texas ~ the Show Window of the Southwest”. Top portion has recognized state motifs (livestock, wheat, Fair Park Hall of State). The piece has the fair dates of October 4th through 19th, 1947. The bottom of the medal shows an aerial view of the Cotton Bowl. Marked on the back as manufactured by Exline Dallas. Bar pin reads “Councilman”. Condition: Very good giftable condition. Only mentionable issue: Fabric attached to pin back shows minor fraying. Cloth ribbon is good, but shows some dirtiness on edges Metal portions not showing dents, bends, wear, abnormal scratches, corrosion, or mentionable issues. Dimensions: Total 3.75″ tall x 2” wide x 1/8” deep. Bottom portion of medal is 1.75″ tall x 1-3/8″ wide. Councilman bar pin is 0.75″ tall x 2″ wide. Unpacked weight: 1 oz.
