eBay You are buying a very rare factory defect variant brand new, original movie Ultimate Buzz Lightyear talking action12″ figure from the Original Disney/Pixar movie, Toy Story. (1995) ****** FACTORY DEFECT VARIANT BUZZ ****** (From original factory case in 1995) This electronic figure speaks in the original movie voice of Tim Allen and says: “I am Buzz Lightyear!”, “I Come in Peace”, “To Infinity and Beyond!”, and “Buzz Lightyear to the Rescue !”. This figure features pop out wings, retractable helmet, push button laser lights and sounds, comes fully poseable and has green trim that glows in the dark. This item is brand new, pulled from a factory case and has never been removed from the original box but is a factory defect variant. This is the Original 12 inch electronic talking Buzz Lightyear. This item was made by Thinkway Toys and is item number 62809 and produced in 1995-96. The batteries may need replacement due to item age. Figure takes 2 AA size batteries which may need replacement due to age and long time storage. This is from the original Thinkway Toy line and is based on the 1st movie. Disney and Pixzar wanted an action figure line after the unexpected sucess mof Toy Story. The major Toy makers all refused as they felt there was not enough time to manufacture such a complex toy line . A small, newer company , Thinkway, based in Canada took on the task and the rest is history. Today, those original Toy Story pieces are very collectible and hard to fine especially the larger box type figures such as the 18″ woody, T-Rex etc. ****** FACTORY DEFECT VARIANT BUZZ ****** During the manufacturing process of the talking Buzz, due to the rush and tremendous demand some of the Buzz 12″ electronic pieces had manufacturing defects. Apparently in the legs of the Buzz, there was a weakness in the thigh area of the figure which allowed the springs to come thru the plastic. This happened in a few batches at factory level and resulted in a Buzz that had springs coming thru the legs of Buzz over time. We do not exactly what happened but we have a few cases of the Buzz where the springs are in various stages of poking thru the plastic skin of Buzz on his thighs. These factory defects can be seen thru the factory sealed package and in various stages of development. We have included a few pictures of the Buzz units which have this factory defect. Each item is unique and in varies stages of deformation. The internal springs are pushing thru the plastic over the thigh area. We have pics on one such unit still in the factory box and pulled from the case shown in the pictures. The main picture (pic1) shows what an original Buzz should look like that is not a factory defect unit. All 6 units in the case shown has the factory defect in various stages We had purchased 60-80 Buzz cases back in the day and found this happening in all the units in one of the factory sealed cases which had been stored since 1995 and shows it was a factory defect as each affected unit came from such a case and each box Buzz is still individually factory sealed. No two factory defect Buzz is exactly the same as any others even when the boxed set is next to one another in the factory master case. ****NOTE **** This item is brand new and comes in a factory sealed box and has been in storage in a factory master case. Due to the age and vintage of this item, once you have opened the factory sealed box we will not accept any returns. Please take note of this before you order this item. This is a collector’s item and we do not recommend that it be given to a child as a toy. Defect was discovered in a case that had been in warehouse storage from our original distributor order back in 1995. 1995 Disney/Pixar’s TOY STORY With the film coming out in only 8 months, Disney was having a hard time finding a toy company willing to produce merchandise with such a short turnaround time. All the larger toy companies had passed on it. The then small Canadian company, THINKWAY TOYS, saw the potential and took up the challenge. Working with Disney Canada and Pixar directly, Thinkway met the challenge and more! This began a unique relationship between Pixar and Thinkway that continues to this day.
